Yeah, I make mountains out of molehills... a lot. Sigh.
But I know what you mean, I have trouble accepting that other talented people can find my work appealing at all. It must be an artist-low-self-esteem thing? I think we look at the things that other people do, which we ourselves do not or cannot do, and we think, "Well, crap. I'm not as good as them." But that means we're discounting the good things that we ourselves do. Which is silly, but hard to stop.
Or something?
"In short, you have got skills!" Strange how this gets through to me more then the wonderful things you said just before it. I can deny having solid, rounded and pleasantly smooth colouring, but I can't deny that I have skills, ya know? Like... I have skills, but I'm just not supper happy about what level I'm at. But that only leaves more room to learn and doesn't mean that my stuff is shit.
Sorry for dragging you through my psychological jello. I love your work and I really appreciate what you've taken the time to write. You so cool!
Man, from the outside this must seem so silly. Two artists being all: "You're awesome." "No, YOU'RE awesome."
And what you said totally makes sense; I feel the same way. I guess that's part of always striving to improve, is looking at your level now and going, "Gluh ugh argh blech!" (Or, if you're not a caveman, "This sucks!" Lol) Plus we're always our own worst critics, right?
P.S. No, YOU'RE awesome!
